Touch into your Horse
" Horses Horses Horses,
between my hand and your mouth lies the uncrossed river.
The other side of you. The other side of me.
Here my friend share the fruit, bite the hunger out of my hand...
Where does the love go ?
Nobody, nobody on earth knows."

Horses and Healing
Whether your horse is working, performing at a high level or simply your
companion, all horses benefit from touch therapy. A relaxed body is a
body that has a high potential to self adjust ; in performance this
manifest as a more supple, flexible and willing horse; in healing this
ability helps to maintain and restaure the body's vitality.

Touch therapy can therefore support the general wellbeing of your
horse, decrease the risk of injury and support your training efforts.
When your horse feels better your ride will become more fun , flowing
and harmonious. After a treatment many owners notice their horse
seems happier and shows more personality.

Touch therapy can help:
Horses Carry the Wounded Home
Most horses will release unwanted energy during a session by yawning, wiggling their lips,
playing with their tongue, swaying their whole body, drop their heads and rest on you.
As you give your horse a treatment you enter a state of deep listening that guides you
into a subtle dance with the horse as he spontaneously responds to softening; walking
away is also a choice as horses like all animals know exactly what they need.

After a session one can choose to ride or allow quiet time;
the decision is based on the intuition of what is best for the horse. You may need some
professional guidance for an integrative riding session after a treatment or relax with a
Reiki session for yourself. Contact us...

In holistic treatment of horses it is important to keep an eye on the whole care and
training program that is providing for the horse's welfare and development. Chronic and
recurring issues may have their roots in improper shoeing, teeth care, inappropriate
training strategy for a certain horse and...rider issues.
Riding after a session should be done in a very respectful, mindful and playful frame of
mind. These rides can be very fruitful as to the insights gained into riding difficulties. In
order to get the maximum benefit, we must as riders approach these moments with the
absolute beginners mind and allow the horse to teach us... a lesson here for us in letting
go of agendas and all those usual ways we do things...

"Dear Andree,

I have to update you on Cats progress.
It is very profound...
I almost think you would have a hard time recognizing him.
Asking for permission before the laying down of hands is one of the
fundamental principles of Reiki. In this simple question lies one of the roots
of sacred relationship with all beings. In this question and the acceptance of
the answer lies the embodiement of the most profound respect for other
beings freedom. If we wish to relate to horses through touch we are
reminded very quickly that how we approach them is crucial to gaining their
trust. If you spend time observing horses together especially wild horses you
start sensing an invisible code of behavior that opens and closes the door to
physical contact between them. Horses spend a great deal of time grooming
and brushing against each other. Touch is a special dimension of body
language that goes way beyond strict communication... only when one opens
and softens into touch can healing begin.
When we approach horses in domesticated situations we assume many
things, remembering to ask permission can heal deeper than one can imagine
as it reaches deep down into the core of our wounded relationship with
nature. There is an unspoken connection between healing, learning, the wild
and our relationship to what is different from us. It is time we reflect on this
as there are now more domesticated horses than horses roaming free on
public lands.

By asking permission we let go of the cultivated arrogance and can start
seeing the world through the horse's eye.
By learning how to approach a horse and enter it's space we are reminded
of the power of walking in beauty & gratitude...
And then hope re-enters our lives with the knowing that we can cohabitate
gracefully with all beings, we just have to re-member...

" Wilderness is... circular, unpredictable, moving and changing. Nature weaves around itself
in an unending breath of life ... That which is truly wild spills over the edges - onto the
kitchen floors, into our love lives, through the sidewalk cracks, and in the form of dandelions
and emotional outbursts. One way to return to a lifestyle that is more organic and
harmonious with the whole of nature is to get outside more often ... to let the
unpredictability of wildness touch the soulful longings within yourself. Wilderness is innate
to who we are. You do not have to go far to find wildness, only as far as your own beating
heart and the joy you find in life. "
